TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR MEDICAL & FIRST AID TRAINING COURSES (UK)
1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern the booking and delivery of medical and first aid training courses (“Courses”) provided by Rutland Medical Solutions Ltd (“Provider,” “we,” “us”). By enrolling onto a Course, the Participant (“Participant,” “you”) agrees to be bound by these Terms.
2. Course Standards & Accreditation
2.1 Courses are delivered in accordance with relevant UK standards, including those issued by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Resuscitation Council UK, awarding organisations, or other relevant regulatory bodies.
2.2 The specification, syllabus, and assessment criteria for the Course are available in the Course description.
2.3 We reserve the right to amend Course content to align with updates to national guidance, best practice, or awarding body requirements.
3. Eligibility & Participant Requirements
3.1 Some Courses may require minimum ages, literacy levels, physical ability, or prerequisite qualifications. These will be stated in advance.
3.2 Participants must be physically capable of undertaking practical tasks such as CPR, placing casualties in the recovery position, lifting, and engaging in simulated emergency scenarios.
3.3 You must inform us of any medical conditions, learning needs, disabilities, or special requirements prior to the Course, so reasonable adjustments can be discussed in line with the Equality Act 2010.
4. Booking, Payment & Confirmation
4.1 A booking is only confirmed once full payment or an agreed deposit has been received.
4.2 Where organisations are invoiced, payment terms will be 7 days prior to course commencement unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4.3 The Provider reserves the right to refuse admission to Participants where payment terms have not been met.
5. Cancellations, Transfers & Refunds
5.1 Participant cancellations
-
Cancellations made more than 7 calendar days before the Course date may receive a refund or transfer, minus an administrative fee of £20.
-
Cancellations within 7 calendar days of the Course date are non-refundable and non-transferable.
5.2 Provider cancellations
The Provider may cancel or reschedule Courses due to insufficient numbers, illness, venue issues, or other unforeseen circumstances. Participants will be offered:
-
a transfer to another date, or
-
a full refund.
The Provider is not liable for travel, accommodation, or any other associated costs.
5.3 Non-attendance
Failure to attend a Course without notice will result in the full fee being charged with no refund or transfer.
6. Certification & Assessment
6.1 Certificates will be issued only to Participants who successfully meet the assessment criteria for the Course.
6.2 Failure to meet Course requirements does not entitle the Participant to a refund. Reassessment or additional training may be offered at additional cost.
6.3 Certificates will show the validity period and must be renewed in accordance with HSE guidance or awarding organisation rules.
6.4 Certificates remain the property of the Provider or awarding body and may be withdrawn in cases of malpractice.
7. Conduct, Safety & Welfare
7.1 Participants must follow all instructions provided by trainers and adhere to health and safety rules at the venue.
7.2 Aggressive, abusive, disruptive, intoxicated, or unsafe behaviour may result in removal from the Course without refund.
7.3 The Provider has the right to remove a Participant who is unable to safely complete mandatory physical assessments required for certification.
8. Medical Disclaimer
8.1 Courses are designed to teach first aid skills for workplace or general emergency response purposes. They do not qualify Participants to diagnose medical conditions or act beyond their training level.
8.2 The Provider is not responsible for how skills are applied outside the training environment.
8.3 Performance of first aid in real-life situations is subject to many variables; successful completion of training does not guarantee competence in all scenarios.
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1 The Provider will exercise reasonable skill and care in delivering Courses.
9.2 To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, the Provider is not liable for:
-
injuries arising from Participant negligence or failure to follow safety instructions
-
injuries or issues arising from undisclosed medical conditions
-
loss or damage to personal belongings
-
indirect, consequential, or economic losses
9.3 The Provider’s total liability is limited to the fee paid for the Course, except where such limitation is prohibited by law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence).
10. Training Materials & Intellectual Property
10.1 All materials, manuals, slides, presentations, and handouts are the intellectual property of the Provider or relevant awarding body.
10.2 Participants may not copy, distribute, or reproduce training materials without written permission.
11. Data Protection (UK GDPR)
11.1 The Provider processes personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
11.2 Personal information is collected for registration, certification, course administration, and compliance purposes.
11.3 Data may be shared with awarding organisations solely for certification or quality assurance.
11.4 Participants may request access to their data, request correction, or exercise other rights under UK GDPR by contacting the Provider.
12. Equal Opportunities
The Provider is committed to equality of opportunity and compliance with the Equality Act 2010. Discrimination, harassment, or victimisation will not be tolerated.
13. Force Majeure
The Provider is not liable for any delay or cancellation caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, transport strikes, illness, venue closure, or national emergencies.
14. Amendments
These Terms may be updated periodically. The most current version will apply to all new bookings and can be provided upon request.
15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales (or Scotland / Northern Ireland, depending on your location).
Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.
